A Short Biography of Kay Lipton Australian Artist

In her early career, and after an extensive training at the Central School of Fine Art and St. Martin’s School of Fine Art, London, Kay worked as a creative display designer in the West End of London.

Subsequently, Kay went to Uganda, East Africa with her scientist husband and was appointed the Artist in residence for the British High Commission. Kay painted the Lounge Murals for the Entebbe Airport in 1959 and also won the Caltex Art Prize for her painting entry.

Kay is now a naturalized Australian. She also achieved her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Queensland, where her husband Dr Anthony Lipton 1961-1989 was a senior lecturer.

Kay’s paintings have been exhibited internationally, such as the Qantas Gallery, Bond St. London and Galerie Miromesnil, Paris. Kay’s work is most informed by the `human condition’, and she enjoys working in themes.
